Cheerios Holiday Nuggets

1 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup butter or margarine (soften)

1/4 cup light corn syrup

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp baking soda

6 cups Cheerios cereal

1 cup salted spanish peanuts

1 cup raisens or dried cranberries

Heat oven to 250 degrees.  Grease a cookie sheet.

Heat brown sugar, butter, corn syrup and salt in a 2 quart pan over medium heat.  Stir constantly until it bubbles around edges.

Cook, uncovered, 2 minutes and stir constantly.  Remove from heat.

Stir in baking soda until it gets foamy and light colored.

Pour over cereal, peanuts and raisens or cranberries in a large 4 qyart bowl.  Stir until well coated. 

Spread in a cookie sheet.  Bake 15 minutes.  Stir.  Let stand until cool... about 10 minutes.

Loosen with a spatula.  Let stand for 30 minutes. Break into pieces.  Store in a tight covered container or ziplok bag.
